WELCOME to the 2009-2108 school year!

As President of the Parents’ Club, it is my pleasure to explain the Parents’ Club’s role in making this an exciting and rewarding year for students, parents, and teachers alike.
 
The Parents’ Club has very specific purposes and goals. Number one is promoting academic excellence at San Pasqual. Other goals are providing and enhancing communication between home and school and promoting good citizenship and involvement in the SPHS community.
 
I am pleased to say that during the past year we were successful in having our actions and functions match our stated goals. We have maintained and enhanced many of our long-standing programs and made them available to students at no cost. Here are a few of them:
 
    * Practice SAT tests
    * Peer tutoring sessions
    * Academic programs
    * The Goldies Awards Luncheon (given twice a year)
    * Student of the Month
    * Scholarship awards (Scholarships awarded at Senior Awards night)
    * Teacher Wish-List program
         (teachers were presented with calculators, books, video equipment, and more as we tried to fulfill their wishes)
 
Because of our very generous membership contributions and support from the Eagles Nest Snack Bar, where we offer after school snacks at discount prices, we were able to accomplish all these things. There is more we can do, and we have lots of new ideas to implement this year.
 
With your participation we seek to provide superior communication between and among home and school, students, teachers, parents, and administrators. One of the ways we can get up-to-the- minute information to you is through our group e-mail list. We also publish a monthly newsletter that is emailed to all on our list.
 
We could not accomplish so much without your involvement! Parent’s Club provides many opportunities for you to participate in your child’s education. Most importantly, you will be a part of the many programs that will be affected by your donation of time and money. The cost of membership is $25, but additional donations are welcome.
 
Please join us for our monthly meetings this year. We have plans for morning and a couple of evening meetings to accommodate differing work schedules. Our meetings are informational and insightful as to what is happening at the school and we feature guest speakers or entertainment at each meeting. We welcome your participation and input.
